Joshua Lowe is an artist who lives and works in Happy Jack Arizona. He started drawing and painting as soon as he could hold a pencil and approaches everything he does with a creative mental acuity.
In 4th grade, he got his first artistic recognition by winning the yearbook design at Riley Elementary School. In his spare time, he created cartoon characters and drew them in his notebooks. His early love of old cars was also a constant source of subject matter.
During college, he worked as a college aide at a variety of schools and loved teaching children how to draw, even though one of the lessons almost set the school on fire. He was quickly deprived of any sources of ignition and nominated to create murals on posters to decorate the after school program’s classrooms. Eventually he moved on to working at a high school in their art department, assisting with still life setup, and helping students with their projects. During this stage of his life, he learned to dye his hair black, be super weird, and become accepted in the art scene. He was even featured in a few art shows in college.
After college, he started and played in a few bands, and got a job as a graphic designer. This job would lead to working in the advertising industry which will slowly crush any bit of creativity any individual contains.
Luckily, an early mid-life (knock on wood) crisis resulted in renewed perspective on the important things in life and instead of a complete deep dive into insanity, Joshua now most enjoys playing music with his drummer son, and painting pictures of dogs. No doubt, if insanity would have prevailed, he’d probably be remembered as a famous artist by now for his dance interpretations of the undersides of coasters as perceived by bar-dwelling fleas, but sadly, the world will never get to experience such creations. Is anyone still reading? I’ll sum up, all this third-person writing is making me nuts. In a nutshell; I’m just trying to create things that make me, and other people happy.
